Dueck Shows New Work in February
An art reception featuring an Ephrata artist will be held at Landis Homes on February 2. Helena Dueck will show a variety of her most recent works in acrylics and watercolors as well as many pieces of quilted art.
Dueck was born and grew up in Paraquay in South America. As a young woman she moved to and became a citizen of Canada. In 1965, she moved to and later got her citizenship in the United States.
Her art training includes 17 years with the late Ronald Sykes of Millersville. Currently semi-retired, Helena is a regular volunteer at the quilting room for Mennonite Central Committee.
Having traveled widely Helena's breadth of experience has influenced all of her art forms. She uses both cottons and batiks in her quilted artwork. Florals and landscapes are two of her favorite subjects.
The opening reception, to which the public is welcome, will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 2, in the Harvest View lobby and galleries. A snow date has also been set for 02-16-10. The works will continue to be on display through April. For more information, call 717-381-3550.
